Benefits of Cassava

Who does not know cassava? Plants 'the people' can be said to be very liked by the people of Indonesia. Not only the tubers which have a distinctive taste, but cassava leaves can be transformed into a very delicious vegetable.

For snacks, cassava tubers in demand in almost all areas of the country. Cassava tuber also known as a staple food in certain areas. In some areas, cassava (Manihot utilissima) is known by various names, such as sweet Kayee (Aceh), kasapen (Sunda), tela pohong (Java), tela belada (Madura), lame wood (Makassar), Pangala (Papua), and others.

Cassava plant is very easy to grow. Plants originating from tropical America is widely planted in the yard, dikes, or rice. Propagation of plants can be made with cassava stem cuttings of old.

According to a medicinal plant expert, Prof. Hembing Wijayakusuma, pharmacological effects of cassava is as an antioxidant, anticancer, antitumor, and increase appetite. Common part used in this plant is the leaves and tubers.

Cassava tubers in calories, protein, fat, carbohydrate, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin B and C, and starch. The leaves contain vitamins A, B1 and C, calcium, calories, phosphorus, protein, fat, carbohydrate, and iron. While the bark, contains tannin, peroxidase, glycosides, and calcium oxalate.

Aside from being a food crop cassava has many benefits as a drug. Among other rheumatic drugs, headache, fever, wounds, diarrhea, intestinal worms, dysentery, night blindness, beri-beri, and can increase stamina.

Overcoming arthritis can be done with the use of inner and external use.

In external use, as many as five pieces of cassava leaf, 15 grams of red ginger, and whiting to taste, mashed and added to sufficient water. After stirring, herbs smeared on the body of the sick.
On the use of, 100 grams of cassava stems, one stem lemongrass, and 15 grams of ginger boiled with 1,000 cc of water until the remaining 400 cc. Then, the water is filtered and drunk as much as 200 cc. Do twice a day.

As a drug fever, 60 grams of cassava tree trunk, 30 grams of jali that have been soaked until soft boiled with 800 cc of water until the remaining 400 cc. Filtered decoction and drink water as much as 200 cc. Do twice a day.

Overcoming berries, 200 grams of cassava leaves eaten as a vegetable.

To increase stamina, 100 grams of cassava, 25 grams kencur, and five items that had been seeded angco, blended with enough water added. Then add honey and drink.
